Maintaining the Balance.

lolol 1337 5p34k 1s 4 F*CKING PIECE OF CRAP.

Just felt like venting, that's all. Hey, at least I censored that.

1337 5p34k is a language that was created last time for people to converse without being regulated (for whatever reason) - but nowadays people use it freely for absolutely no reason other than to supposedly sound cool. Other words in this class are abbreviations like "lmao" and "lol" which have made their way into common everyday speech - which means, even if something is not funny or exceedingly funny, you can never tell since everyone is just saying "lol" or "lmao" instead of laughing or staring at you half-liddedly. What emotion can be expressed from a flat one syllable word? So please, try to refrain from "loling" all over the place, and instead try to LAUGH.

Another matter on hand are plastic bags. The next time you go to a supermarket, try bringing along reusable bags instead - and if it's just one object, request not to have a plastic bag and carry it in one hand. Unless it is, of course, something too big, like a car, which on the other hand you wouldn't need a plastic bag for and can just DRIVE AWAY.

And no, the subject header is not related to the post. Thank you, and goodbye.

Spreading the Word.

Yes, it's related to anime again.

Yesterday was the NPCC Annual General Meeting - a really boring thing where people sit around and go through stuff about the previous year. However, everything was very half-hearted and most of the powerpoints were about three slides long. I spent most of my energy trying not to fall asleep.

Well, at least there was no marching. It ended prematurely, about one hour earlier - which I took advantage of to spread anime, my favourite hobby. Target? Taylor Ong Yik Sin, someone I had previously got to watch Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuutsu.

The anime I chose was Kanon, which is what I've been blogging about for the past two months. I made my way into the 2M (now 2B) classroom, which had not been locked since school closed. All needed equipment had been predetermined and was in working order. I then proceeded to show it on the projector, and there you had it: Thirty minutes of DVD quality, Not-Available-In-Singapore animation.

His reaction was expected - he found the girls undeniably cute, especially Nayuki, who is the most popular character at the moment (and I have to agree on that point, she is really very cute). He said he would watch it on YouTube - success.

Signing off.

Update 19/12/2006

This is the first post I am sharing between my LiveJournal and Blogger accounts. I think I will be continuing this in future.

Picking up from where I left off, Kanon 2006 episode 11 has just been released. Which is actually not all that big news, since like only I watch it. Why do I watch stuff that no one else does? And counting in the fact that half my contact list on MSN watches anime, that proves how big the show's fan base here is. Which is, coincidentally, not very big. Which is why I am valiantly giving my best effort to spread this wonderful anime - but nobody wants to watch it (Except angsty emo sadistic character-focused people - which Singapore is devoid of).

On another note, I have three AuditionSEA accounts now - if you have one please PM me if you see me online. They are Melvin334, Earthspace and Hitoel.

Currently my favourite quote is from AIR - and was used in a Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuutsu fan comic.

"Yukito-san... like a leaf from a tree..."

Random and very fun. It's the scene where Michiru runs headlong into Yukito's side with Misuzu looking on, in case you've forgot - unless, of course, you have not watched it, which is more probable.

Back to Kanon 2006 - since Makoto is now gone the focus, of course, has to turn to someone else. And this time it happens to be Mai. Now, the preview looks really interesting, so now I am just waiting for episode 12 to come out - the episode that marks the middle point in the anime. Now, it's been two months so I think the show is going to span four.

And just for info, I am going to elaborate on the characters now. Please skip the following parts if you hate anime, for which I do not understand why you would be on my blog at all.

  1. Aizawa Yuuichi

The main male lead. Mysteriously, he does not seem to have romantic links with the other female characters, which is the norm in anime with a significant gender difference.
  2. Minase Nayuki

The first girl Yuuichi meets, and his first cousin. In the style of anime Nayuki has a hair colour which significantly distinguishes her from the other characters - in this case, blue - and a hairstyle that would require a fortune in hair wax to maintain. One of the more popular characters of Kanon for her lightheadedness and character. She tends to talk slower than the other characters.
  3. Tsukimiya Ayu

The second girl Yuuichi meets, and with the least complicated hairstyle (i.e. could actually be natural). She has a fondness for taiyaki and has a childlike nature. Her hair colour is light brown, and she has a red hairband which apparently serves no purpose other than as a hair accessory. Has a habit of saying "Uguu~", which has become a very famous catchphrase - the most famous of Kanon. She has been friends with Yuuichi from seven years ago, and has been waiting for all that time.
  4. Misaka Shiori

A girl who first meets Yuuichi by having snow falling on her. He later has frequent liasons with her on the school grounds, which she tends to loiter around during school times. She is a first year student at the same school, but does not attend due to an apparent illness. Her hair is blackish-brown, a similar colour to Kaori's hair colour, and is another of the more natural hairstyles.
  5. Kawasumi Mai

A very silent girl, reminiscent of Nagato Yuki, and Yuuichi's senior. He first meets her during an accident involving Mai, Sayuri, Nayuki and a flight of stairs. She shares a connection with him from seven years ago, but this has not yet been mentioned so far in the second anime adaptation. Her hair is dark blue-black, and is tied on the back with a blue ribbon.
  6. Sawatari Makoto

A mysterious girl with seemingly no past who attacks Yuuichi out of the blue. She also shares a connection with Yuuichi from seven years ago. However, her part in the story is completed near to halfway through the episodes, and subsequently disappears physically from the anime. Her hair is reddish-brown, and is tied up on two sides with ribbons.
  7. Minase Akiko

Nayuki's mother and only parent. She is seemingly familiar with the supernatural nature of the town, and knows how they apply to Yuuichi (which is a lot). One of her defining features is that she will give responses to questions within one second of being asked, and also her jam, which is greatly feared by Nayuki and Yuuichi.
  8. Misaka Kaori

Nayuki's best friend and classmate along with Yuuichi, Kaori mainly features in Shiori's story and is introduced early on in the anime.
  9. Amano Mishio

Exclusively featured in Makoto's arc. Mishio is familiar with the supernatural nature of the town, and possesses experience with it. After Makoto's arc is concluded, she seems to have changed somewhat, becoming much more open and expressive, or at least to Yuuichi.
  10. Kurata Sayuri

Mai's best friend, and features in only Mai's arc, playing no part in the others.
  11. Kitagawa Jun

Yuuichi's good friend, and one of the only other named male characters. Mainly serves as a plot device.

Oh, and someone should make some quiz about "Which Kanon character are you?" or something. This now is my most favourite anime because everything is just so darned cute. -.-||

Another update.

Like yay going for a badminton game with Wilford and a few others tomorrow.

Currently I am bored and don't really do much besides watch anime (which incidentally I do very well). But watching it is no fun when you are the only one in a group of like, 100 people. That's because there's no one to discuss it with: Anime in this category for me are AIR, Kanon 2006, Zero no Tsukaima, Mahoraba, Maburaho, and a few others that do not fall into conventional categories that those who actually watch anime rarely watch. Those that like 5 out of 100 know of include Gunslinger Girl, Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuutsu (which coincidentally is incredibly highly rated), Negima!?, and a few others I cannot recall temporarily. Of course, I do watch mainstream anime, but these have plots that mainly focus on fighting. I mean, doesn't anyone like character development? Relationships and all that? Anime that fall into this category are Bleach, Naruto, Gundam SEED Destiny and Full-Metal Alchemist (which differs in that it actually posesses good plot). The only redeeming point of these kind of anime (besides Full-Metal Alchemist which, coincidentally, has quite bad animation [even though everything seems pretty bad once you've seen Kyoto Animation]) is the action. Of course, there are the anime that everybody knows about, but the problem is that these totally suck and some aren't even considered anime. Anime in this category are Inuyasha and Pokemon (which is considered by some to not be an anime but a game). Inuyasha is pretty okay but Pokemon is pretty poor. The plot of each episode focuses around six main points that you can find in detail on forums and the anime itself serves nothing more than as a money-grabbing scheme.

Okay, we end it there. Now I just watched episode 10 of Kanon 2006, which admittedly is the only anime I watch right now. I heard that most people cried when they watched this episode since Makoto disappears in this one, but I felt nothing much else than a slight tingle. That's what social conditioning and NPCC do to you. Maybe it's a good thing, but really good anime should be able to make you feel the agony of the characters which means you're really into the story, and which also means the characters are as close to human as possible. So far the only anime I have seen that come close are based off Key Game material, but even those made me feel not much other than a tingly feeling in the pit of my stomach and slight bouts of quietness afterwards. Even playing one of their games, or rather the visual novel Planetarian, didn't do much more. Maybe it's good for tissue saving, though. Problem is that anime based off their material, though made by Kyoto Animation, is not mainstream because it focuses so much on character development and is, as some would describe, "f***ing unbelieveably slow", and thus are known by, say, 1 in 100 people. The anime are AIR and Kanon 2006, incidentally.

Now for those people who actually recognised most of the anime names up there and can say that they know the plotlines, PM me. For those who so totally want me to screw off for wasting precious server space on this, PM me too. For those who don't give a damn, keep to yourselves or post your views on the little tagboard on the side.

Another update.

Okay, so now after a really long time I am updating. Wow.

Kanon episode 9 is out. As is episode 9 of Negima!?. I have watched Kanon episode 9. I have ignored Negima!? since episode 5. Death Note was out since episode 2. Perhaps my interest in this area is waning - perhaps going to manga instead. Which does not help much.

Actually since I can't play much anymore my interest in the computer and gaming is waning. So is my interest in watching the TV and playing games on the Xbox. Unfortunately, interest in my homework has not gone up, but down 20%. I'm even losing interest in drawing. And guitar. So I have all these fabulous skills and stuff to do that I am starting to dislike. Basically, at this point in time, life sucks because there is nothing I am interested in (I'm losing interest in blogging too. And I am really hungry right now but I'm too bored to get up and go and get food).

My life is dead as of 5/12/06. Wish me happiness in futility.

Lalala.

Today while playing squash I saw a young mother pushing her child in a pram, coming to a stop and watching us. Expectedly she told her child, "Look, it's a ball! It's bouncing, it's bouncing! Ooh it came so close!"

So what's so unexpected about it? Well, nothing. But, have we ever considered what the toddler might be thinking?

For all we know, the toddler might be responding mentally with a "Yes you idiot I know it's a ball and I know it's bouncing. Now all I want is just for you to tell me why the laws of physics act in such a strange way on the ball." Maybe now a child points at an Xbox controller. What is he thinking? The mother, bathed in joy that the child is taking an interest in objects, exclaims, "Well, look! That's a game controller! You use it to play GAMES."

"Yeah shut up and turn it on so I can play Halo 2."

"See, this controller has BUTTONS. They help you to..."

"Look, my GamerTag is gonna expire soon if you don't turn it on. I purposely stole your credit card for this so don't waste it."

Yeah, whatever.

Oh my heck.

I had the weirdest meeting online today.

Thanks to the efforts of Si Hui (thank you very much, yes I know you found my blog), I managed to meet Ian. Who is he? An anime fan as well. Albeit one who knows what TYPE/MOON is, has actually heard of Kanon, is interested in Gunslinger Girl, had a passing fancy for Ai Yori Aoshi, has a display picture of Belldandy, likes Shakugan no Shana, and (get this) can draw well.

Besides all this, he lives less than 100 metres from me.

Seriously like wth. I never thought this day would come.

Back for another post that barely anyone will read.

After screening randomly through the various blogs that I link to (I don't actually read blogs on a daily basis), I have determined that the number of people who actually use proper English (read: Full sentences, complete words and punctuation and capitals) in blogs is of a phenomenally tiny amount. Though of course there is no need to actually use it, seeing as how online netspeak has gotten so popular. I, however, still prefer standard English online for some unknown reason.

There is nothing anime-related to blog about at the moment, as Kanon 2006 episode 7 is not out yet, Negima!? episode 5 is still in the wings and chapter 154 of the manga is still being subbed. I guess the majority of the people who actually visit and bother to read are happier at this.

And Key is really, really good. My Planetarian download completed recently and I slowly clicked my way through the kinetic novel over the span of three days (English patches open these games for the masses). Great ending but yes, kinda sad as expected of them. And somehow I am guessing that the majority of the people who actually read this blog do not actually understand any of this.

I need a new hard drive.

Melvin's Weekly Update.

Okay, I'm going to make this short because the computer hanged on me after I wrote a 500-word long essay. Hoorays. -.-"

I started watching Kanon 2006 on October the 6th, when the first sub came out. Now I'm on episode 6, and for the moment it's still looking very good. Compared to the 2002 Toei version, which I will not emphasise on, the character design, animation and backgrounds have significantly improved. The gals are that much cuter and Yuuichi has undergone a makeover. Kyon = Yuuichi, anyone?

Yuuichi is one sarcastic guy.

Shiori is looking much cuter. <3

Is it just me, or does everything look so much better when it's done by Kyoto Animation? Now, Key's material has all been done by KyoAni. Joy. <3

Late now, signing off.

The Boredom of ....

I am bored.

As usual.

I did a fanart of Hikaru no Go and Shaman King for a friend today... turned out pretty well. It's on my DeviantART account at the moment.

This day sucked. I have no reason to stay on the computer because I am freaking bored and have no anime left that I want to watch (or rewatch for that matter). I cannot play games (like wow yay). I am allowed on the computer four hours a day (hey like freakin yay). The whole bloody system is screwing with me and I don't like it (that was just random).

Wilson's RP forum was updated (Wilson from Tao Nan and not the NCO Wilson for fellow NPCCers). I posted too yay. URL is http://s15.invisionfree.com/Alpha_Damage for equally bored parties.

I have started changing my display picture in MSN to a new one every ten minutes because. Just because. I'm bored remember?

There is no spoon (pure randomness).

Heard of this game called "Planetarian ~Reverie of a Little Planet~"? There's a PS2 version out this year called "Planetarian ~A Dream of a Small Star". It's totally in Japanese. But for the PC version there's an unofficial English patch. Key is like so totally pwnage and my torrent download is going at over 20kb/s so I really don't feel like turning off my com anytime soon I hope this seed stays online a while longer.

I hope it won't be so boring tomorrow oh crap it's been ten mins gotta go change my display picture 'kay bye.

Bored.

I'm bored again.

Today was kinda screwy... I can't play tennis. I'm bored of drawing (like wow). My half completed picture is so damn boring to continue. I have no wish to watch any more anime since I don't know what to watch anyway. No one's going out anywhere. I finished all my manga, I think I'm going to go ballistic this holiday since I can't play any games that I'm interested in. My parents only allow me to play strategy games on the computer... of which we have a nice big zero. And I don't want to play chess. Screw it, this holiday is gonna suck.

Does anyone have any anime (or manga) to recommend? I'm done with all of what I have even a remote interest in. I went to the comics shop today and came out after thirty minutes with nothing... If you have something nice, please tag... So far I've watched or read (or do not want to watch or read):

AIR [one of my favs xD]
Agatha Christie [sucks to me]
Ai Yori Aoshi (Bluer than Indigo) [kinda boring]
Bleach
Burst Angel [this kinda sucks to me]
Cardcaptor Sakura [xD]
Chrno Crusade [bah]
Death Note [nice but boring]
Fafner [Is this good? Someone tell me, I saw a bit]
Full-Metal Alchemist
Gundam SEED (Destiny)
Gunslinger Girl [one of my favs]
Hikaru no Go
Initial D [fav cos of the cars]
InuYasha
Kanon [one of my favs too]
Love Hina [one of my favs]
Maburaho [one of my favs as well]
Mahoraba ~Heartful Days~ [my most fav one]
Mahou Sensei Negima [one of my better favs]
Monster [nice but boring]
Mythic Detective Loki [I don't see why it's so bad]
Naruto
Shaman King [Don't really like it]
Slam Dunk [I don't like this either]
Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuutsu
The Melody of Oblivion [This is okay but reviews are bad]
Zero no Tsukaima

Most of these I like quite well but I'm not the kind who likes the shonen stuff like huge swords or hugely kickass people. My most favs are zero violence romance kinda stuff (in other words shojo), excluding Gunslinger Girl (which is kinda philosophy, like Monster). Please recommend. (This list is not exhaustive).

Look around.

Totally revamped the layout of my blog. The pictures were copied from ashen-ray, but the layout was done by myself through the use of div tags and whatnot. Now you can stop the music if it can even play since I included a Quicktime controller, but it's not playing for me now. D:

Which layout is better - new or old? Either ways I'm sticking with this one because it took me three hours to complete.

Waah.

I seriously feel like killing myself. D:

All these pro ppl from Singapore who can do art stuff better than me are killing me D:

http://damashii.deviantart.com/ - What's with her bloody CG?
http://nch85.deviantart.com/ - Look at his animation, dammit!
http://mushopea.deviantart.com/ - Connections, connections. Oh and she happens to draw a few hundred times better than me. D:

I should just quit DA until I improve a million times over. D: ||mopes in corner||

And as usual I don't appreciate cynical comments.

Tuesday, October 24, 2006

Gragh.

Did my first 158 bpm finish move on Monday night. :D Who else Auditions?

There's this really good person on DeviantART who is actually a professional manga artist. Webby: http://www.ashen-ray.com/

Currently trying to burn Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuutsu to a DVD+RW, to no avail. My AVI to DVD Converter is screwing up on me. If anyone has any good suggestions, please post it in the comment box. Thanks.

Negima?! and Kanon 2006 are really good in terms of animation and drawing. For all those non-cynical people who actually like watching anime and don't screw around with people for watching it, this is a must-watch, as the Negima manga is a must-read.

I don't like updating when I don't feel like it. Maybe another update later (if you don't care, you don't need to tell me. I don't care what you think if you don't care what I think).

Monday, October 16, 2006

Exam results are back.

Well, the exam results came back today and yesterday... So far I don't know English and History yet (and I have a feeling I don't really want to know). So far...

Maths: C6
Chinese: B4
Literature: B4
Geography: A2

Well, for a start my parents weren't too happy about the results. So I got a wonderful 45 minute lecture, during which I had quite a few thoughts about the whole education system and everything. Parents say they want their children to study so that in future they can excel in the global market... but has anyone ever wondered why? Is it even possible to excel in a market where everyone studies the same syllabus and has the same knowledge? It's like mass production, a mass production of young students who have never really experienced the joys of life. So what if you don't do so well in school? The reason why people excel when they do is because they have knowledge that nobody else does, like a chef has a secret family recipe, and like a person knows how to repair vehicles. The reason why Microsoft excelled is because of that little knowledge about coding that let the creator create Windows. KFC excelled because it had a secret recipe for making chicken that no one else could. So why would studying the same syllabus and the same subjects in the same schools and getting the same knowledge let you beat the rest? No one has ever considered that. Think about it.

WAAARGH

Hi guys. First things first,

I'M NOT A BLOODY EMO KID. :D

'Grats to HCI and NYGH ppl for passing exams le, gd luk for RI guys urs are just starting >.< Playing whole day, AuditionSEA and MapleStory getting boring... Halo 2 also v. boring le. All my games getting boring... haizz.

So I turn to reading my manga. Currently I'm reading some two series by Ken Akamatsu, Love Hina and Mahou Sensei Negima (if you follow anime and/or manga trends you should know how famous these two are ^^) and looking forward to Kanon 2006... already seen the first episode. The animation's top-notch, fitting of the animation company that brought you SHnY and Inuyasha, and my fav series AIR! ^^;; Go KyoAni! Bring us more quality works in future! (hope they are doing CLANNAD by Key Game ^^) Maybe I'm going overboard here.

There, I updated. Maybe a better update in future that isn't so anime-related. Signing off.

Singapore's screwing up.

Guess what, Pollution Standard Index (PSI) has reached record levels.

The PSI has reached 130 based on three-hourly readings taken based on PM10, the main cause of pollution in this case. People are advised to stay indoors and refrain from vigorous activity.

The smoke is getting in my stomach. >.< If this goes on much longer I don't think my brain can take it, I've been feeling the pressure for quite a while now.

Good luck, Singapore. Indonesia needs more luck now though - if my sources are correct the PSI there is 500.

I can screenie now!

Final post before exams probably.

Exams are here by Friday and ending on Thursday (when I can finally play again). However, that isn't stopping me from surfing the Net and finding various means of evading study which I have done for so long and cannot seem to stop doing. That is because my studying is in all essentiality finished and I have no reason to continue.

In other news, I finally found out how to take screenshots in Windows Media Player. Now I can bring all my favourite anime moments to school for all those blinking idiots to see (I cannot think of any other terms at the moment).

Haruhi Suzumiya is teh pwn.

Halo Wars is coming out!

And that is all for today.

Website.

Today marks the start of a new project: The creation of a website utilizing various mediums to accumulate ACE points for the fulfilment of the Infocomm Studies ACE limit. I will be obtaining the help of various sources, besides the Infocomm Studies teacher, to help us with the fulfilment of this task. This project will be done in conjunction with another student, Justin Salim, and will guarantee maximum ACE for our final grade. This will in turn make our parents enamoured and satisfied. The drafting process has been designated to Justin, proceeding which I will then go through a second vetting process, and then proceed to the final stage of creation, coding. I will utilise a combination of Hypertext Markup Language, Cascading Style Sheets, PHP Hypertext Preprocessors and Javascript, as well as Macromedia Flash, Fireworks and Dreamweaver to obtain a final product worthy of this grade.

I have no idea what the above paragraph means and I have no intention of understanding either. Even though I wrote it myself.

"Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuuutsu" is complete. Now for Kanon Tv. 2. :|

The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya.

Anyone seen this anime before? It's called "The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya", or "Haruhi Suzumiya no Yuutsu" in Romanized Kanji. Also being animated by Key Animation, it was stopped at episode 14 because staff had to be rerouted to the Kanon remake. The first (read: second) episode is already crazy enough; I can't imagine the rest. -___-;;

New background.

Notice the new background for my blog? That's from AIR. It took me all of fifteen minutes to complete it and another fifteen to get around Photobucket's cranky uploading problems. Somehow, I prefer this over the previous one.

Audition.

I just realised I've spent close to a hundred on anime and manga. >.<

Been playing Audition today, I've gotten quite good at it. Sync-8, anyone? :)
Level 9 now, but there's no one to play with... I've been practising Chance and Sync-8, but it's still very screwy (Chance, not Sync-8).

AIR is almost done. Once I'm finished watching it, I might go back to Zero no Tsukaima or Gunslinger Girl. Or maybe both. >.<

Cheerio.

Thursday, September 07, 2006

Air.

Spent most of today at home, though I went to school for maths remedial. Simultaneous linear equations however is not really my cup of tea. I basically slacked through the whole of this rather uneventful day, unless you consider watching Air eventful.

Air? Another anime. Made by Kyoto Animation, the same company that is now working on the Kanon remake, it ran from 6 January 2005 to 31 March 2005 in Japan, ending off with the recap episode at the end of the 13-episode series. It, however, has not been released in Singapore. Which is where YouTube comes in. >.< It isn't licensed!

Air has three arcs: the Dream arc, the Summer arc, and the Air arc. Currently I have only seen the Dream arc, which focuses on four people: Yukito Kunisaki, the male lead of this arc, Misuzu Kamio, the first girl he meets and possibly the main female lead, Minagi Tono and Kano Kirishima. Because I highly doubt that anyone actually reading this will want to watch the anime, mainly because it isn't very action-focused but more of a fantasy comparable to Kanon's supernatural elements, and a very weepy anime, I will not write anymore about it until I finish watching it. Wikipedia is your friend. >.<

HWR signing off. Once again, this is highly recommended: I place it up there along with Kanon.

Kanon.

Ayu from Kanon. xD The remake is coming out October 5th or 6th - can't wait. It looks way better than the 2003 version. With an extension from 13 eps to 25, maybe the story can be better executed instead of the 1-episode-per-side-story execution of the original animation.

Animation rights this time have been handed over to Kyoto Animation, the team responsible for AIR. I've seen AIR - this time round I think all those people who were balking at the original's character design will be able to appreciate the story.

A very good plot-driven anime, even though it did come from a Key game eroge dating sim >.< You don't get many plot-driven dating sims around though. Kanon was THE best dating sim when it came out... xD Wiki it. It's still popular with fans of the genre.

Highly recommended.

New background.

Hey guys, I changed my background. If you don't mind can you tell me if it's hard to read? I'm pretty sure it is, but having some opinion from outside sources does help.

Prize.

Art comes in many forms: For me, it's mostly manga. xD I am such a lamer.

I went to the Home Team Academy today to recieve a prize for second place in an art competition... details exactly? "Ministry of Home Affairs: HomeFront Security Month Poster Competition". It's a national competition where any secondary school can enter (Ngee Ann sent in the most entries but Hwa Chong owned). So I got second place. First place went to a Sec 1; third to a Sec 3. It follows an order, lol. $400 Borders book voucher; so far spent $67.15. Wtf, yeah.

And what was the main focus of my drawing? Well, the people were all done manga-style. There were two vehicles in the picture: the SCDF pumper and the SPF SOC Riot Control Vehicle. It was only until someone presumably in the upper echelons of the Total Defense structure mentioned casually that the two vehicles were the new ones did I realise that I had just drawn vehicles that were not yet released to the public, down to every last detail, including registered number plates for the respective number of the vehicle.

In other news, the new anime/manga I'm hooked on is Gunslinger Girl (which is coincidentally rather old). The main character is Henrietta, a young pre-adolescent child who is incredibly cute, self conscious, has a crush on her mentor and carries a Fabrique Nationale P90 in a violin case. Why? Henrietta is a member of an elite group of Government agents (all coincidentally young, really cute and disarming girls) who have been mechanically enhanced and brainwashed to do the Government's dirty work. They wield guns with deadly precision, and like all normal people specialise in certain weaponry (Henrietta uses Fabrique Nationale and is more of a close-quarters person, though she does use a sniper; Rico is a more experienced sniper). Of course they are very good at making people let down their guard; though professional killers, they still make really good children, apart from the fact that they carry weapons in violin cases, are near oblivious to pain and have more strength than your average weightlifter. A great story, but with such astronomical prices ($9.15 for 1 book), I'm not sure I want to start a collection.

Offline.

Went out for quite a while today... First I went to Parkway and had lunch with my sister, then walked around for a while, after which I proceeded to Century Square to buy Gunslinger Girl 2 and 3 (at this rate my savings are going to be wiped out real easy.) Really bored now though... reason being?

AuditionSEA is in the process of being patched. For over 18 hours now.

In an amazing feat of time management and efficiency, this patch has somehow taken over 18 hours and counting when the stipulated end time was actually eight. The administrators must be really tired now... Maybe someone keeps tripping over the server cables and they have to restart the entire process. Or perhaps they have internet connection problems lar...

Hope it comes up soon lor...

Girls with guns.

Decided I wanted to buy a comic today, so I went to the Comics Connection in Bedok and bought Gunslinger Girl vol. 1. I've known about it for quite a while already (since like before June) and was planning to get the manga 2 weeks ago, but in all honesty I didn't know the price - and for good reason too. One book - Chinese version - costs $9.15 (Compared to less well-known ones which go for about half the price). I'm going to totally wipe out my savings if I want to make a collection.

But it is GOOD. The drawings are like "whoa!" and the guns are very detailed down to the last notch on the side of the Fabrique Nationale P90. But the story is the best part. xD But I can just see my money disappearing.

That's all for today.

Hiatus.

I have not posted for a year already (I went off blogs a year ago). As proof that I am still alive, besides totally recreating my blog, I shall now post as I deem fit.

My current theme is, most unfortunately, not cross-browser. Once I have found the problem I will then tackle it and attempt to make it cross-browser compatible (seeing as IE sucks).

Go for Opera or Firefox. Honestly.

NPCC sucks now - ironing the freaking uniform is tedious, putting on the buttons is irritating and the worst part is pinning on the badges. Great contrast to that post down there.

DeviantART still rocks, though they changed their theme. Now it's more streamlined and makes for easier access.

Well, what have I done in the period that I was away? Well, mostly I got hooked on anime... though it's not really the more popular ones like Gundam Seed (well, I'm hooked on that too.) What I do like are more of the romantic kinds... xD Something's wrong with me.

More info on my favourites:

Maburaho - harem/magical girl genre

A guy, Kazuki Shikimori, with a real limited magic capacity finds himself the object of affection for three sweet young things: Miyama Yuuna, Rin Kamishiro and Kazetsubaki Kuriko. Nothing new here besides the underlying theme of magic. Still, the character design and effects are pretty good.

Mahoraba ~Heartful Days~ - romance genre

One of my favourites, Mahoraba is about a guy, Shiratori Ryuji, who moves into an apartment in Tokyo to enrol in an art school. This apartment is Narutaki-sou, a charming little villa that looks very out of place surrounded by the skyscrapers of modern Tokyo. Here he meets the landlady, Kozue Aoba, whom he takes a liking to, and the other eccentric tenants... very refreshing storyline, but the male and female leads are REALLY boring. But that's why I like them, because they so resemble real-life people. xD

Kanon - supernatural, romance

Actually a relatively old anime. The original story came from an eroge by Key games, but it is actually very good in terms of plot. The main character is Yuuichi, a guy who returns to Hokkaido after fourteen years, and moves in with his cousin, Nayuki, and her mother. Along the way he meets other girls, most of them having met him during his last visit fourteen years ago. Slowly as his memory returns, he finds out that most of these girls harbour secrets he never knew about. A very moving anime, and the main character is not at all boring, because unlike male leads in most female-dominated casts, he actually has a personality and a tendency to be rather mean. xD

AIR - romance genre

Still in progress. xD

Zero no Tsukaima - romance/magical girl genre

Set in a alternate world where there is such a thing as magic, Zero no Tsukaima centres around the two leads, Saito and Louise. Still in progress, actual screening hasn't even finished yet. For more info just Wiki it.

Other animes that I watched:
- Gundam SEED Destiny
- Fullmetal Alchemist
- Ai Yori Aoshi
- Naruto
- The Melody of Oblivion
- Monster
- Ragnarok: Mythic Detective Loki

Remember, Wikipedia gets you anywhere. xD
